Social Media Users Many Cheating


According to a study, someone who often use social media, about 32 percent of whom are more likely to think to leave her partner. Researchers from Boston University found a correlation between the use of social media, marital problems and divorce.

Researchers concluded that Facebook is one of the causes of the increasing divorce husband and wife. The study, led by James E. Katz in the College of Communication is to compare the rate of divorce husband and wife in 43 countries between 2008 and 2010.

To find out 'Facebook penetration', Katz with two authors calculate the number of the account up and divided by the population in a country. The researchers found that the increase of 20 per cent of Facebook users in each country can be attributed to growth in the divorce rate by 2.18 percent.

When the authors calculate the variables of employment status, age, and race, the correlation remains constant. They found that the correlation could be a significant predictor of divorce rates. Similarly, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Friday (06/04/2014).

"The study looked at the data to understand human behavior is influenced by communication technologies, especially mobile-based technologies," said Katz.

The researchers also examined data collected in 2011 by the University of Texas at Austin, which asked 1,160 people aged 18-39 years were married in telling about their domestic harmony.

People who do not use social media, 11.4 percent of whom more happy with the marriage than those who use social media. While social media users, 32 percent of whom cendurung not stand in the house and thought to leave her partner.

Although some previous studies showed that Facebook and other social media sites make people more likely to lie, the researchers concluded that men and women who are experiencing marital problems, often gain emotional support from social media.
