Loneliness Health Worsens

When lonely, you can search for friends in unexpected places. At least so the conclusions of a recent study of Psychological Science that found that people who feel disconnected with social life aka lonely doll may look like a human face.

However, the implications of his own loneliness or alias singles on health far outweigh the odd personality. "People are lonely have more physical and mental health problems than those who feel connected to others," says Bruce Rabin, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.

There are four ways of loneliness affects your health:

1. Health is decreased in the dumps

The more you feel lonely, the more likely to experience symptoms of depression. "When you are lonely, the brain hormone associated with stress such as cortisol becomes active, which can lead to depression. In fact, social interaction is more effective in reducing the symptoms of mild and moderate depression than prescription anti-depressants," said Rabin.

2. Tend not take care of themselves
Research shows that those who frequently eat alone will eat less healthy foods. Do not have a spouse or widow and two aged 50 and over eat fewer vegetables than those who are married and living together.

"If you cook for others, you will tend to prepare healthy meals that contain a variety of foods, meats, vegetables, than if you just eat alone," said Rabin.

In addition, people who are lonely are more likely to be physically inactive, according to a 2009 study published in the journal Health Psychology.

3. Vulnerable to heart disease

Middle-aged people who live alone have a 24 percent increased risk of death from heart disease, according to a Harvard study in 2012.

"Research has consistently shown that lonely people have a higher risk of heart disease, and that for various reasons. Because they do not have social support, they are more susceptible to the effects of stress, which increases the likelihood of heart disease," said Rabin.

As is known, the stress hormones increase the accumulation of cholesterol deposits in the heart. Secondly, those who are lonely tend to be less physically active and poor diet.

4. The immune system becomes weak
Loneliness can lower the immune system, according to a study from Ohio State University in 2013. People are lonely resulted in a lot of inflammation which is associated in a protein in response to stress than those who feel socially connected. Inflammation is associated with health conditions including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, and Alzheimer's disease.
